Meet Our Riding School Instructors

Audrey Saumure

Audrey Saumure

Audrey was born and raised on a 3rd generation owned hobby farm in Bourget. Horses were always a part of her life. She began riding when she was 7 years old. Audrey's first job in 2016 was as a stable hand and she has worked in various barns around multiple animals since. Audrey's work experience with horses spans from summer camp monitor to stable hand and barn manager.

Audrey graduated from College Boreal with great distinction in 2022 as a Veterinary Technician. Since December 2022, she has worked at Wynbrook with a focus on improving horse care. A few months later she began coaching in our riding school where she loves to share her knowledge and experience with others. Audrey has her 5-year-old horse Nova at Wynbrook. They’re currently working on their riding skills and developing together as a team.

My passion for horses started at the age of 8 when my parents sent me to a summer camp at the Sault Ste Marie Horse and Pony Club. It wasn’t long after that I was fortunate enough to own my first horse.

I competed on the Trillium Circuit in Northern Ontario and the National Gold Circuit in the Toronto area up until I moved to Ottawa for university. I continued horse showing locally in Ottawa as well in Quebec and at the highlight of my show career competed at the Royal Winter Fair in 2011 and the Ocala Winter Circuit in 2014. I’ve owned several young horses that I brought along throughout the years as well as some very talented experienced mounts. I currently own 2 young horses that I look forward to training at the top notch facilities at Wynbrook Equestrian Centre.

I have been lucky enough to train with many talented riders throughout the years and I look forward to passing on my knowledge and horsemanship.

Proper Base of Equitation Skills

Riding school is often thought of as a place to learn how to jump or gallop around a track, but the reality is that a riding school is the foundation for all other types of riding. Proper base of equitation skills will make you a better rider no matter what your discipline.

  • Structured Learning Experience

Our riding school offers a structured learning experience for both beginner and experienced riders. We have a team of qualified instructors who cater to each rider's individual needs, and we offer a wide range of classes, from beginners to advanced lessons.

Whether you're just starting out or you've been riding for years, we can help you improve your skills and enjoy your time in the saddle. We also offer a variety of boarding options, so you can choose the level of care and attention that's right for you and your horse.

  • Flatwork Week

We alternate our lesson topics which include flatwork and jumping (for the suitable rider), as we strongly believe that both disciplines complement each other in the development of an all-around rider. During the “flat week” we encourage correct rider position, a variety of figures, and shapes to challenge steering and control, as well as other exercises that develop a rider’s ability to adjust the range in their horse’s stride.

  • Jumping Week

On “jump week”, we set up a variety of pole and gymnastic exercises, or intricate jumping patterns that test a rider’s ability to navigate their horse over fences with correct rhythm, balance, and accuracy.

  • From Beginners to Competitors

Riding at Wynbrook offers a professional, structured, and positive learning experience for all levels of riders. Wynbrook is home to approximately 20 wonderful lesson horses and ponies that are equally safe and calm for beginners.

Structured Riding Lessons

Our riding lessons are structured on a monthly basis with no long-term commitments. This means that new riders can join us at any time. We believe that this approach gives riders the flexibility to try out riding and see if it's for them without having to make a huge commitment. Plus, it means that our riders are always learning something new and progressing in their skills. Our experienced and qualified instructors tailor each lesson to the individual rider's needs and abilities, so everyone can get the most out of their time with us. So whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced rider, we have a lesson plan that will work for you. Be sure to also ask us about our horse riding camps when you visit, you will be happy that you did!

  • Group Lessons

In a group lesson, the riders are typically divided into groups based on their experience level. This ensures that everyone is learning at a pace that is comfortable for them.

Beginners will usually start off with basic walk/trot/canter exercises, while more experienced riders will learn more advanced skills such as jumping.

Group lessons also give riders the opportunity to meet other people who share their passion for horses. For many people, this is one of the best parts about taking riding lessons.

Cost: 1 hour weekly lessons for $263/month (+hst)

  • Semi Private Lessons

Semi-private lessons offer the perfect balance of individual attention and group camaraderie. In a semi-private lesson, you'll receive customized instruction from a professional instructor, while also having the opportunity to ride with a small group of fellow riders. This type of lesson is ideal for riders of all levels, from beginner to advanced.

Whether you're looking to learn the basics, semi-private lessons can help you reach your goals. Best of all, semi-private lessons are typically more affordable than private lessons, making them a great option for budget-minded riders. So if you're ready to take your riding to the next level, consider signing up for a semi-private lesson today. You won't be disappointed.

Lessons That Keep You in Mind!

We offer riding lessons for all levels of experience. Whether you're a beginner who's never sat in a saddle or an experienced rider looking to compete for the trillium horse show, we have a lesson plan that's right for you.

Our lessons are designed to be both enjoyable and informative, and our knowledgeable instructors will provide you with the individual attention you need to succeed. We believe that riding should be fun, and our goal is to help you fall in love with horseback riding. Contact us today to book your first lesson!

  • Registering as a Beginner

We recommend one to two months of private lessons for all beginner students. Group lessons for subsequent months would then be ideal for the beginner, offering the opportunity for more saddle time (1 hour of riding) and new friendships with other students.

  • Students with Experience

Should you have previous riding experience, it is encouraged that we arrange for a tour of the facilities and an “assessment” of your riding skills. We assess your balance, position, and general understanding of the fundamental skills that we emphasize here at Wynbrook Riding School. We find this process very helpful in selecting the best fit for a lesson group that will continue to challenge your skills and allow the opportunity to become the best rider that you can be!
